Authorities warn of scam messages claiming to be from Australian Border Force
Scamwatch is warning Australians to be wary of an online scam pretending to be from the Australian Boarder Force. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said a recorded message claiming to be from the Australian Boarder Force (ABF) is being sent around.

I met him today. Same story as always. He asked me for some directions and then the same story of studying and loosing his bag and passport. Then the same behaviour. Sms+ask for money.

Hi everyone,
We met him at Barcelona, he told us as you that he tried to get help every where but noone wanted to help him.
I let him call his mom write an email to his mom with my telephon ( I was scared that he run away with my téléphone :/ ).
He was very polite but was too much focused on money. I told him that I haven’t cash and not my card. He told me that I can try with my phone to get cash ( thanks god it didn’t work).
Then he let us go.
To help other person :
He had a brown skin, he had a good english, very polite, no glasses, brown hair, maybe 1,75m.

Just met him, same . No money given. Just sent an email and left him waiting there for me to come back with money. Went to market and googled the email address and found this thread, confirming my thoughts.
"Irish" guy, lacking several front teeth and smelling like .

Same here for me today.
I listened and tried to help until he started to ask for $10-20 to make a call.
Same story about his bag being stolen and that it was his first day. I only have data on my phone so I could only help him send an email to his “mom” who works at the hospital in Ireland.
He said he tried the police station, cafes and hotels to help but they don’t speak English or didnt help him.
After like 10mins, he asked for money for a phone call. I dont have cash and told him we can go find someone with a phone together, but he didn’t want to do that. He right away pointed out where the atm was and kept pushing me to go get money out. I told him no, I’m not getting money out, but I’ll go with you to the hotel across the street for help. He kept asking until he gave up, said “ you” and walked away.

Same thing just happened to me. Same sob story about being his first day and how someone stole everything. Gave him 5€ but unfortunately he saw I had a 20€ bill and tried to convince me to give him the 20 instead, or to go to an establishment and get change so I could give him 5 or 10 more.
In the beginning it was just a nuisance, but by the end I truly started to feel unsafe.
The saddest thing for me is the fact that next time someone stops me to ask for directions, even if they're genuinely just lost, I will probably just ignore them.

same thing happened to me, the guy approached me at 3am at night on the 17.11.23 and asked to write an email to his mom with this email address: drsoconnor@eircom.net. he said he is from ireland and he was working but his stuff got stolen. he wanted money for a hotel but for every solution he had an excuse saying he only needed like 15€. i didn't give him the money and he called me a slut and left. this was at the bus stop gran via - muntaner near the university.

LOL I feel like an . He’s doing the same screen in Barcelona Catalunya right now. Fell for it, took out 20€ for him. He seemed so convincing, it’s sad. Great actor I guess. Whatever he’s doing with the money - good for him I guess. He will get his karma, cause what the hell does he do with 20€ honestly, nothing. His story was confusing but he seemed convincing enough, so I’m the one here.
