How long has this service been running and who is it for?
The service was created in 2011 in the Czech Republic. It is an online forum where the users can share their experience with phone numbers, both annoying (mostly telemarketing, surveys) and useful (e.g. couriers, offices)..
Since the beginning, the service has been received very well, which led to localization into more languages. Nowadays, the forum exists in more than 20 languages and 34 countries throughout the world.
The service is intended for anyone who wants to identify the owner of an unknown phone number. The creators of the forum have also recently created the mobile app Call Insider for Android phones. This app, which is connected to the database of the website phonenumbers.ie, also allows users to automatically block telemarketing numbers.
Wangiri calls are typically missed calls from an overseas number, with the caller hanging up after one ring or less, before the receiver can answer. They rang me and said they were from ipsos mrbi. Asked me a bunch of random questions. The questions weren't really intrusive and they didn't ask for any confidential details. It took 20 minutes. The only reason I have it on neutral is because the questions were a bit random and weird.

Just received a call from this number 10 minutes ago, a lady named Ann Marie with Irish accent claiming to be from some MRBI (market research bureau Ireland) wanted to ask questions on some poll for people of different backgrounds and identities. Said it'll take 15 minutes, I said I'm busy now so she said she'll ring me tomorrow I said OK and hung up.
I rang the number back after few minutes to check, it won't connect. Sounds like a pretty elaborate scam.
