The Centre will issue a notice to WhatsApp seeking to know the reasons behind the sudden spurt in spam calls on the instant messaging and calling app, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

Call came from a possible AI machine allegidly Paypal saying a request for payment of €600 has been made but was denied. Please press 1 to make payment or 2 to speak to an assistant. On further checks the phone number cannot be traced to any know business in Ireland.
Despite a number of searches I could not find any business or other orginisation attached to this number. On telephonig the number 004542617568 the return was a disconnection.
